About

Founded because the gap between policy and practice was causing real harm.

Safe Haven Education was built on the conviction that good intentions are not enough. Organisations need infrastructure, not just awareness. This work exists to provide both.

Deniz Erdem

Founder, Safe Haven Education

Safe Haven Education was founded following a career spanning 15 years in senior commercial leadership, and lived experience of non-physical, pattern-based coercive control. That combination of practitioner qualification, commercial reality, and direct understanding of how abuse operates inside relationships and organisations is what makes this work different from training delivered by someone who has only read about it.

Most organisations want to do the right thing. The problem is that the right thing, when it comes to domestic abuse, requires a different kind of knowledge than most HR and compliance teams have been given. That is the gap Safe Haven Education exists to close.

Where it comes from

The SafePolicy™ framework was developed from direct observation of where standard processes fail: in disclosure conversations that were handled well in intention but badly in practice, in policies that looked complete on paper but collapsed under the weight of a real situation, and in regulated environments where no one had connected the dots between coercive control and conduct risk.

PatternShield™ was developed separately: an evidence-analysis tool that connects scattered messages, calls, incidents and records into a visible pattern of coercive control, so the pattern is visible before it escalates, not just after.

Areas of specialism

Workplace domestic abuse. Training, policy frameworks, governance infrastructure and advisory for organisations at every stage, from establishing a free baseline to implementing a governance-level framework for regulated environments.

Coercive control and pattern-based abuse. Advanced practitioner knowledge of how non-physical abuse operates, how it's misread by standard processes, and what a correctly designed response looks like.

Pattern-based evidence analysis. Specialist practice through PatternShield™, connecting fragmented evidence into a visible pattern of coercive control, for professionals across policing, family law and safeguarding.

How Safe Haven Education works

A specialist practice, not just a training company

That means a limited number of client engagements at any one time, direct access to Deniz Erdem rather than a team of associates, and a focus on depth of impact over volume of delivery. The Free Baseline Series makes professional-standard resources available to every organisation regardless of budget. Paid services are scoped to the organisation's actual needs rather than a fixed price list, and all advisory on live or complex situations is handled directly.
